The Quality Management Fix- It Team works on the specialized line located within Traditional Manufacturing.
The team is responsible for repairing and completing prepping, assembly, and/or polishing tasks, start to finish, to complete certain metalsmithing jobs, which require special attention.
These may be jobs for High Profile Customers, jobs which have recast multiple times and appear on the Hot List, or Recovery work which results from customer contact and Salesforce cases.
The team also repairs jobs identified by Traditional Manufacturing or Initial QA as having minor, repairable defects, to return them to the standard production workflow.
These Metalsmiths are responsible for determining the best order of operations and techniques to be used, to produce the best possible result, with the highest efficiency.
Depending on the Metalsmith’s skill level, teamwork may be required to complete some complex pieces.
Other key components of the role include hands- on training with other members of the team, and participation in conversations with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to discover root cause.
The position of Quality Management Metalsmith is responsible for repairing and completing prepping, assembly, and/or polishing tasks, start to finish, to complete certain metalsmithing jobs, which require special attention, under the leadership of the Quality Management Fix- It Team Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Possesses Metalsmith skills and qualifications, performing with at least 80% efficiency in one of the following major trades:
Precision Fitter (Prepper)
Precision Polisher (Finisher)
Precision Assembler
Repairs, assembles, preps, and polishes jewelry items from start to finish, returning to their original timeline and/or workflow in recovery situations.
Determines and acts on best order of operations to maximize quality results and timelines, increasing efficiency.
Collaborates with team members and cross- functional associates, as necessary, to complete complex projects.
Engages in hands- on training with other members of the team and the company at large, to increase and share knowledge and experience.
Participates in conversations with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to discover root cause.
Strives to improve On- Time Delivery (OTD) through attention to Quality, and reduction of touch- up and scrap rates.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
1 or more years’ experience in jewelry prepping, polishing or assembly.
Level of role will be determined based upon tenure, experience, and demonstrated quality and efficiency.
Manual dexterity and ability to work with hands and feet to control tools
Ability to see fine details of jewelry pieces, using naked eye, visor and microscope.
Ability to listen and follow directions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in defect repair a plus.
Experience with a laser welder preferred:
Prong repair and replacement
Repair of pits, shrinkage and porosity
Filling of larger details, such as incorrect stamps and inclusions
Communication and collaboration skills
Patience and curiosity
Good attendance, with conscientious interest in team success.
