Position Description:

  • We are seeking a Senior Parallel Payroll Test Lead to join our CGI team and being part of an exciting large scale transformation project in Sacramento, CA!
  • This position is located at our client site in Sacramento, CA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

  • We are seeking this highly experienced Parallel Payroll Test Lead to manage, oversee, and facilitate parallel payroll testing for a large-scale Human Capital Management (HCM) ERP implementation.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading parallel payroll testing efforts and possess a deep understanding of compliance strategies, payroll validation, and test execution methodologies.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

How you'll make an impact:

  • Responsible for managing and leading a team of test analysts to perform parallel payroll testing
  • Collaborate closely with Payroll Functional Lead to understand parallel testing requirements
  • Work with the Payroll Functional Lead and client SMEs to define the test strategy and plan for performing parallel testing
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive parallel payroll testing strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational requirements
  • Oversee and manage the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple parallel payroll test cycles
  • Ensure alignment of test plans with a Public Sector California client's payroll policies, bargaining unit agreements, and labor regulations
  • Collaborate with various teams to define test scenarios and expected outcomes
  • Document and manage the parallel test plan and scenarios through client approval
  • Perform parallel tests and review/document results
  • Create parallel test dashboards and reports showing testing results
  • Work with the Functional Lead and client SMEs to conduct test result analysis and reconciliation for any differences and assist with resolving variances between new system and legacy systems
  • Maintain and update test data throughout the SDLC
  • Manage and coach junior and mid-level test analysts on your team
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with payroll processing, compliance validation, and tax withholdings during testing
  • Provide leadership in issue tracking, root cause analysis, and documentation of findings for parallel payroll testing
  • Support UAT, end-to-end payroll testing, and system cutover planning to ensure a seamless transition
  • Develop and deliver test reports, dashboards, executive summaries, and compliance documentation as needed

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in payroll testing, with a focus on parallel payroll testing for large system implementations
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, data validation, and system integration
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, compliance mandates, and bargaining unit considerations
  • Experience with ERP payroll systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday, SAP, Oracle) in a testing or implementation role
  • Proven ability to develop test strategies, manage execution, and analyze results for payroll compliance validation
  • Expertise in test data management, payroll reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution
  • Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills to coordinate across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes project environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment, and travel to client site in Sacramento as required

Desired Qualifications/Non-Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience with a California public sector organization's (state government) large-scale system modernization project
  • Experience collaborating with state agencies, HR teams, IT, and third-party vendors
  • Familiarity with state-level payroll processes and compliance requirements
