The intern will work alongside the development team, gaining real-world experience in full-stack development within a fast-moving, production environment. Strong performance during the summer may open the door to continued part-time engagement during the school year.

Employee will work in DCS’s engineering department, and report to the Engineering Manager – Data & IT

Primary job responsibilities & expectations:

• Support development, maintenance, and optimization of UI for DCS’s custom web applications
• Assist with troubleshooting bugs and application errors under the direction of experienced developers
• Write clean, readable code that adheres to team coding standards and best practices
• Collaborate with team members, product stakeholders, and end users to deliver quality software
• Maintain and update technical documentation as needed

Salary Range: $20 per hour

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree program
• Current or rising Senior preferred; strong Junior candidates will be considered
• Self-motivated with the ability to take direction, work within a team, and manage assigned tasks
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly

Desired Skills:

• Foundational knowledge of front-end development — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one modern web framework
• Familiarity with SQL or relational databases (hands-on experience a plus)
• Exposure to API concepts or basic back-end development
• Creative mindset, innovative tendencies, and self-motivated work ethic  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and support existing applications
• Must be within driving distance of the location
