A shipper/receiver in an engine shop plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of

parts and materials, supporting the repair and rebuilding processes. Their core

responsibilities revolve around the precise handling and documentation of incoming

and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and working with

other team members.


Duties include

  • Shipping & Receiving Operations: Managing the loading and unloading of

shipments, including potential forklift operation. They inspect incoming goods

for accuracy and condition, prepare outgoing shipments with proper packaging

and documentation, and coordinate with shipping carriers like FedEx, UPS and

LTL Carriers. This also includes processing returns and resolving discrepancies

in shipments. Filing paperwork and documents.

  • Inventory Management: Receiving items into the system and organizing storage

areas. They participate in inventory counts, investigate discrepancies, manage

shipping supplies, track stock levels, and handle damaged items.

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations for material handling and

forklift operation, maintaining a clean work area, and understanding safety data

sheet requirements for hazardous materials.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicating with suppliers, internal

departments, and customers to resolve shipment issues, and reporting

discrepancies to supervisors.

  • Other Responsibilities: May include local deliveries

All duties are to be completed accurately and in a timely manner.


Qualifications:

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Essential qualifications typically include a high school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • Necessary skills encompass computer literacy, the ability to perform heavy lifting, strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, good communication skills, basic math skills, a valid driver's license, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude. Previous experience in shipping and receiving is also preferred.
  • Proper PPE is required to protect from noise and injury will be provided.

ln essence, a shipper/receiver in an engine shop act as a crucial link in the supply chain, ensuring the right parts are in the right place at the right time, minimizing delays and maximizing efficiency in the engine repair process.

 You are responsible for purchasing steel boots/shoes.
