The Secretary is responsible for clerical work as assigned in support of the front office administration. Typical tasks include but are not limited to preparing correspondence, word processing, typing, preparing documents and reports, copying, ordering supplies, filing, processing incoming and outgoing mail, and answering phones. Additionally he/she is responsible for screening and directing calls and visitors. The entry level salary is approximately $15.00 per hour.
Applicant must be at least eighteen years of age at the time of appointment and must have a high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by clerical course work and experience in clerical work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicant must be able to read, write and speak clearly and concisely in English. Applicant must not have been convicted of any crime which would prohibit access to law enforcement or public safety information and must be free from any problem that might adversely affect or compromise operational security or job stability. Applicant must be able to type a minimum of 45 correct words per minute and be proficient in the use of a PC for the purpose of word processing and data base operation. Applicant should have excellent spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic skills, along with considerable knowledge of modern business English, office practices and procedures. Applicant must be able to deal with the public and fellow employees in a courteous and tactful manner. Applicant must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be willing to work on weekends, holidays, and at odd or irregular hours on an “on call” basis as needed.
