  • The Search & Discovery Analyst will be responsible for optimizing and enhancing the search, browse, and recommendations experiences across all digital platforms.
  • This role involves deep analysis of user behavior, search performance, and content categorization to ensure that our customers can easily find the products they need.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a passion for data, and a keen understanding of search technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Search Monitoring and Discovery: Regularly monitor and analyze the performance of the e-commerce site search system. Evaluate key metrics such as search relevance, click-through rates, conversion rates, and user engagement to identify areas for improvement.
  • User Behavior Analysis: Utilize web analytics tools and log data to understand user behavior within site search. Conduct in-depth analysis of search queries to uncover trends and patterns. Identify recurring issues or gaps in content and data that may impact the search experience and propose solutions to address them.
  • Platform Optimization: Collaborate with the search team and platform vendors to optimize search and recommendations algorithms. Implement strategies to enhance the relevance and accuracy of product results by leveraging keyword optimization, synonyms, stemming, and other related techniques.
  • Content Categorization: Work with the content and product teams to ensure accurate categorization and tagging of products, improving search relevancy and user experience.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, engineers, and data scientists to implement search feature enhancements.
  • Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular reports on internal site performance, insights, and recommendations to merchants. Clearly communicate sometimes complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Industry Education: Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in search technology and e-commerce to drive innovation within the team.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Data or Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience as a Search Analyst or in a similar analytical role
  • Proficiency in web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
  • Familiarity with search and discovery technology platforms and tooling such as Lucidworks, Elasticsearch, Solr, Algolia, Algonomy, Kibo, or Monetate
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to extract insights from data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and the ability to translate them into actionable search improvements
  • Experience with A/B testing methodologies and statistical analysis
  • Detail-oriented personality with sound problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling challenges 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in commerce or retail industries
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application in search and discovery
  • Experience working in the jewelry industry, with a strong understanding of jewelry product categories, attributes, and customer preferences
