Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots, installs, repairs, and maintains machinery, incorporating mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles of operation.
  • The machines include, but are not limited to CNC, manual horizontal and vertical lathes, grinding mills, finish mills, air compressors, kilns, cement coolers, and elevators.
  •  Moves or helps move machinery and equipment to job location, if necessary.
  • Facilitates equipment set up and initial operation. 
  • Sets anchor bolts, and installs bed plate, base or frame, adding shims or grouting to achieve proper elevation.
  • Using blueprints or manufacturer’s instructions, plumbs, levels, and aligns machines.
  • As necessary, assembles machines from blueprints and instructions. Sets engines or motors in place, aligning shafts and couplings.
  • Installs and replaces motors, hydraulic transmissions, variable and eccentric speed drives, speed reducers, and couplings. 
  • Repairs and replaces roller chain, flat belt, and V-belt drives, clutches, and gears.
  • Performs routing, plumbing, and pipefitting on equipment and building when directed.
  • Operates threading machines to chase threads on pipes.
  • Uses thread gauges to measure threads on pipe, bolt, and selects proper die for desired thread. Ø Performs all work in accordance with established safety rules and practices.


Work Enviornment:

  • This job operates in an environment where the employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, working around moving mechanical parts, work in high and precarious places, around fumes and airborne particles, near toxic orcaustic chemicals, extreme and hot or cold (non-weather ) , and can be exposed to the risk of electrical shock.

  • Employee to have special vision requirements such as Close Vision ( Clear vision at 20 inches or less ), Distance Vision ( Clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision , depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Tools, Equipment, and Machines:

  • Measuring devices such as rulers, calipers, micrometers;
  • Welding equipment, heating and cutting torches;
  • Pneumatic tools, cutting and threading machine, hand tools (manual and power) and shop tools and machines.
  • Forklifts, pickup trucks, and other mobile equipment.
  • Cranes, hoists or other lifting equipment to move tools, materials, equipment, and/or machinery.
  • PPE

Salary Range: $18-$22/hr DOE


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of equipment operations.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, interpret sketches, drawings, and manufacturer’s manuals and specifications.


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of experience with machine shop equipment maintenance and repair.
