The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of instrumentation and electrical systems through skilled troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance activities. This includes performing emergency repairs, calibration, installation, and preventive maintenance to support optimal equipment performance. The technician actively identifies and addresses safety, health, and environmental concerns while ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, corporate, and facility regulations. By maintaining equipment reliability and supporting operational excellence, the technician plays a key role in achieving plant efficiency and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow IMS guidelines, safety protocols, and mandatory procedures to ensure compliance and safeguard the environment and personnel.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation systems while ensuring accurate calibration and functionality.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical equipment and wiring to ensure reliable operations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on plant equipment and recommend upgrades to improve reliability.
  • Respond to emergency call-ins to troubleshoot and repair equipment issues promptly.
  • Safely operate forklifts, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment for maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair BMS and PLC systems to optimize plant operations.
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment and perform basic site tasks.
  • Keep work areas organized and maintain inventory of spare parts and materials.
  • Work effectively in teams, acquire technical skills, and develop knowledge of production processes and policies.


Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Maintenance I&E Technician in a chemical plant or refinery or industrial setting required (3-5 years preferred)
  • Associate Degree in Applied Sciences or equivalent apprenticeship preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with I&E hand tools, meters, and instrument calibration equipment
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, PLC’s, BMS’s, motors, P&IDs, and wiring schematics
  • Trained and familiar with NFPA 70
  • Strong organizational, computer, and communication skills (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to work overtime and participate in on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays
  • Temperature, pressure, and flow instrumentation and able to program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives.
