Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate prescriber and customer needs and resolve issues quickly by finding forward thinking solutions and determining what can be done to fulfill a request.
  • Deliver professional and friendly communication, act as a knowledgeable resource to prescriber offices and understand when escalation to a pharmacist is required.
  • Understand the complex needs of patients and answer patient’s questions with patience and empathy.
  • Learn and adhere to pharmacy policies, processes, procedures, regulations and accreditation standards as well as best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of workflow and processes to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction and team engagement.
  • Proactively support other pharmacy team members when needed to ensure a quality and timely fulfillment process including general pharmacy upkeep, point of sale, shipping, inventory management or other duties and responsibilities.
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively while documenting required information in computer systems.
  • Answer calls in a timely manner and offer to all patients the option to transfer patient calls to a pharmacist to answer clinical questions.
  • Review system comments carefully for specific delivery instructions or specific fulfillment requests.
  • Count and label prescriptions with attention to detail, ensuring all labeling, lot and expiration date is present and accurate, and that all supplies are included with medication (crushers, shakers, etc.).
  • Restock and refill supplies (vials, lids, NasoNebs, etc.)
  • Review Print Queue comments, print prescription labels and ensure the patient’s complete order is together then pull and place the correct product in tote along with labels.
  • Any product that is out of stock is to be ordered, and the tote is set aside for when the product is delivered.
  • Technician is responsible for going through the “Rx Queue” in Pioneer to ensure that all labels printed and “waiting for fill” are accounted for and in the process of being filled.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory by monitoring stock, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, removing outdated drugs and assisting with monthly inventory counts. Sign and date all incoming invoices and properly add to inventory.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks to maintain assigned work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Properly document all customer and prescriber complaints as well as prescriptions errors (PQC) in a timely manner as required.

Salary Range: $18 - $19/hour


Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Active Pharmacy Technician License in the state of Louisiana.
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening. No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances.
  • Strong data entry skills are required
  • Prior Technician experience - more qualified technicians will be considered at a higher level
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
