The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of Beacon Community Connections and is responsible for the growth, development, and operations of Beacon Community Connections, including all service lines and programs. The Executive Director maintains a focus on thoughtful growth and community engagement through the execution of the Board-approved strategic plan. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Along with the board, responsible for defining, articulating, and championing the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives, ensuring these are understood and embraced throughout the organization and by stakeholders
- Guide the creation, evaluation, and ongoing refinement of the organization's strategic plan, setting clear goals and priorities, and ensuring alignment across teams and departments
- Oversees the execution of strategic plans, translating high-level objectives into actionable business plans, and ensuring that the organization's operations and resources support its long-term vision
- Is accountable for tracking the implementation of strategic initiatives, evaluating organizational performance against goals, and communicating progress and outcomes to the board and other stakeholders
- Board Relations and Community Engagement
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Serving as Beacon Community Connection Inc.’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public.
- Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the region, state, and nation, and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Beacon Community Connection Inc.’s mission.
- Responsible for enhancing Beacon Community Connection Inc.’s image by being active and visible in the community and working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.
- Fiscal Management and Development
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Beacon, including fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintains the organization's positive financial position.
- Seek new opportunities and programs that carry out the organization’s mission
- Responsible for planning and implementing fundraising campaigns and strategies as well as developing other resources necessary to support Beacon Community Connection, Inc.’s mission.
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
- Organizational Management and Program Oversight
- Ensure the quality Implementation of social care services and programs that carry out the organization’s mission
- Ensure Beacon meets all service line contracts and program metrics
- Responsible for communicating effectively with staff and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for staff to fulfill Beacon’s mission.
- Sets the example of positive working culture practices and encourages staff to adopt them as well
- Shapes a workplace culture that attracts, retains, and motivates top talent while driving the organization toward its strategic goals
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional growth that aligns individual career aspirations with organizational goals, enhances workforce capabilities, and improves overall organizational performance.
- Serves as the leader of the Strategic Leadership Team and engages in shared decision-making when appropriate.
- When vetting new potential services or projects, determine staff capacity and engage in joint decision-making with executive leadership
- Communicate with executive leadership when changes to policies and procedures are needed
- Review staff and social care service technology needs and communicate them to executive leadership
- Provides guidance and support to middle management to address staff issues including poor performance
Qualifications:
Professional Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher
- Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience
- Possesses financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting
- Possesses strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation
- Ability to convey a vision of Beacon Community Connection Inc.’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector
- Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including a strong public speaking ability
- Possesses the ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
- Exhibits transparent and high-integrity leadership
