Position Description:

As a Backend Web Developer at CGI Federal, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems for web applications that support a federal law enforcement agency's classified environment. This position requires strong technical expertise in backend development, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance applications.

This position is located in our Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for web applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and high-performing.
• Administer and manage the Atlassian platform, including Confluence, JIRA, and associated plug-ins.
• Administer the daily operation of a scalable GitLab and GitLab CI platform, working with development teams on CI/CD processes and container implementation.
• Administer and perform routine operations within HP/Autonomy TeamSite and Open Deploy platforms.
• Administer the WordPress platform and support legacy applications, including Python, PHP, or Java web applications.
• Manage and maintain MySQL databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Develop APIs and services to support front-end functionality and third-party integrations.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure solutions align with federal standards and mission requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years in backend web development with expertise in designing and implementing secure solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, PHP, or similar.
• Experience with database management systems like MySQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Ability to administer Atlassian Confluence/JIRA, GitLab, HP/Autonomy TeamSite, Open Deploy, and WordPress platforms.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes and container implementation.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in federal government or diplomatic environment at the department level or experience supporting classified environments within federal law enforcement or Intelligence Community organizations.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks (800-53, 800-171, 800-190).
• Additional certifications in cloud technologies or cybersecurity.
