POSITION SUMMARY
- The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Finance Department with ensuring accurate records, financial reports and general ledgers, and the general performance of bookkeeping.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform general accounting responsibilities, including preparation of journal entries, research and documentation of processes and procedures, resolve questions related to general ledger activity and other tasks as assigned.
- Review and maintain general and sub ledgers for completeness, identifying reconciling items and communicating corrections timely.
- Research issues as required for assigned tasks, resolve routine concerns and escalate necessary problems timely.
- Assist with Month End close as assigned (data entry, research, running standard reports etc.) and preparing necessary journal entries.
- Review and process credit card reports and receipts submitted by cardholders on monthly basis.
- Assess and understand the relationship between the balance sheet and P&L.
- Posts entries, completes account reconciliations, assists in audits, reports discrepancies, and takes corrective action without delay to maintain integrity of department and Company
- Assist employees in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchasing duties as necessary to maintain efficient timing of accurate financials
- Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related area and five (5) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience understanding commonly used accounting concepts and general policy and procedures such as GAAP
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to address inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies, or members of business community
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
- Strong knowledge of computers and proficient skill with spreadsheets
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good recording keeping
