Senior AWS Java Full Stack Developer *

Position Description:

CGI is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Java Full Stack Developer to join a small, high performing Agile development team supporting enterprise applications within the financial services industry. This role is ideal for a senior, hands on developer who can contribute immediately and thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high development velocity.

This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Columbia, SC, Birmingham, AL

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The developer will build and enhance cloud native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript, and AWS, with responsibility across the full software development lifecycle. The role includes developing backend microservices and modern web applications, implementing automated testing, supporting CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring applications are resilient, observable, secure, and maintainable.

The successful candidate will have strong experience working in AWS heavy environments and collaborating closely with a small team of experienced developers. The position also requires hands on experience with Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, Python, and modern AI assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot. Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of development work from requirements through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with advanced hands on Java development skills.
• Strong backend development experience using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Hands on full stack development experience with Angular and TypeScript.
• Strong experience developing, deploying, and supporting cloud native applications on AWS.
• Solid Python development experience for application development, automation, or supporting services.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in cloud environments.
• Strong working knowledge of GitLab CI/CD, Git based development workflows, and automated deployment practices.
• Experience developing comprehensive unit, integration, and automated tests, with a strong focus on software quality.
• Understanding of application resiliency, monitoring, logging, performance, and observability in distributed environments.
• Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI assisted development tools to improve development productivity.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and translating specifications and business requirements into working software.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with the ability to independently drive development work through completion.
• Ability to work effectively within a small, high velocity development team, collaborating closely with other senior developers while maintaining strong individual ownership.
• Experience developing secure, reliable, and maintainable applications in an enterprise environment; financial services experience is preferred.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
