Job Description

Pellet Mill operator is responsible for ensuring that the pellet mills produce quality pellets in a safe and efficient manner. This job will consist of the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities. Employees are not limited to the following key roles and responsibilities and may be asked to perform additional duties.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Follow and adhere to all site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and company operational standards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment
• Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly and ensure it is maintained and in good condition. 
• Attend and actively participate in both pre-shift and weekly safety meetings
• Ensure all assigned training and required certifications are maintained and up to date
• Identify and immediately report safety hazards, near miss events, environmental concerns, and unsafe conditions to supervision.
• Monitor and adjust pellet mill operations in accordance with SOP guidance to maintain pellet quality standards.
• Perform operator rounds and complete required checklists throughout the shift; submit documentation by the end of each shift.
• Monitor for abnormal operating conditions such as pellet roll/die wear, leaks, unusual odors, spills, or equipment malfunctions and take appropriate action, including submitting maintenance work requests and notifying shift supervisor.
• Perform routine housekeeping throughout the shift, including sweeping floors, emptying bins, and maintaining cleanliness of assigned areas.
• Monitor and maintain pellet quality standards throughout the shift and communicate with quality control to ensure product specifications are met.
• Complete and turn in all required paperwork to the shift supervisor. Provide operational status updates to incoming Pellet Mill Operators to support an effective shift handover process.
• Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of materials, chemicals, and waste products to maintain environmental and safety compliance.
