BackLEDA Business Intern (Workforce Development Department)

LEDA Business Intern:
- The intern will work primarily with the Director of Workforce Development, who advises the Lafayette Parish business community on employee recruitment, retention, and training.
- The Director will provide guidance and training to help interns quickly adapt and develop new skills.
- This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule, allowing interns to balance work and academic commitments seamlessly.
- This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn how a local government agency connects growing businesses with job seekers and supports industries in driving economic development in Lafayette Parish.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and maintaining the LEDA online job board.
- Review job seeker resumes for job placement assistance.
- Conduct job search with local companies to provide job leads to clients.
- Assist with coordinating, executing and follow-up for job fairs, events and seminars using Salesforce and Excel.
- Data entry and maintenance of information within internal business database.
- Contacting area businesses informing them of upcoming events.
- Assisting with other special projects associated with the mission of LEDA
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- The internship requires a minimum one-year commitment and the intern must be enrolled in post-secondary education courses for at least the Fall and Spring semesters.
- The intern must possess professionalism and good communication skills.
- Must have computer skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Graduate students are also encouraged to apply.
- The intern must be able to work 20 hours per week (flexible schedule) and have reliable transportation.
