Overview

The Designer will support Louisiana Dental Implant Lab by producing high‑quality digital dental designs that meet clinical specifications, quality standards, and workflow timelines. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across the design and production process. The Designer will collaborate closely with the design team, milling team, ceramics team, and leadership to maintain a seamless workflow and provide exceptional results for clients. The Designer is responsible for creating precise dental implant and prosthetic designs using CAD software. This includes crowns, bridges, full arches, abutments, and other implant‑supported restorations. The role requires a strong understanding of dental anatomy, occlusion, and digital design principles while maintaining accuracy, speed, and consistency.

Design Responsibilities:

• Create accurate, high‑quality dental designs including crowns, bridges, abutments, and full‑arch restorations
• Utilize CAD/CAM software to complete cases efficiently and within established turnaround times
• Review incoming case files, scans, and prescriptions for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure all designs align with clinical parameters and the expectations of partnering doctors
• Communicate with doctors and internal teams regarding design preferences, case clarifications, and required adjustments
• Prepare files for milling and ensure compatibility with equipment and materials
• Maintain consistency in design standards across all products and workflows

Workflow & Collaboration:

• Coordinate with the milling team to ensure files are properly prepared and meet all production requirements
• Assist team members with troubleshooting case issues or design complexities
• Participate in team meetings to discuss case flow, quality improvements, and upcoming projects
• Work closely with leadership to align design processes with overall business goals

Quality Control & Technical Standards:

• Follow established design protocols to maintain uniform quality and accuracy
• Identify potential design issues and resolve them proactively
• Conduct final design checks before files are sent to milling and doctors
• Ensure all digital files meet FDA, ISO, and internal quality management requirements
• Maintain familiarity with materials, implant systems, and design parameters for various manufacturers

Tracking and Reporting:

• Maintain case logs in technician bench to ensure transparency and accountability
• Report case trends, design challenges, and workflow improvements to leadership
• Monitor case timelines to support on‑time delivery and efficient workload management

Software & Technical Requirements:

• Use applicable CAD software programs (e.g., Exocad, 3Shape, or software used by LDIL)
• Maintain proficiency in digital workflow tools and scanning file formats
• Continually improve skills through training, educational resources, and updated techniques

Additional Responsibilities:

• Manage and track inventory for lab materials, tools, and supplies
• Perform regular inventory counts and communicate shortages or needs to leadership
• Help maintain organization of digital and physical materials used in the design and production workflow
• Assist with communication to doctors regarding case preferences and revisions
• Participate in special projects or product development as needed
