Position Description:
CGI is seeking a Cloud Network Security Engineer to support cloud network security across AWS heavy, multi cloud, and hybrid environments. This role is well suited for an early career engineer with 1–3 years of experience who has a foundation in cloud, networking, or cybersecurity and is looking to deepen their hands on cloud security experience.
This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Columbia, SC, Birmingham, AL
Your future duties and responsibilities:
The engineer will help implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network security controls for cloud workloads and connectivity between cloud, on premises, SaaS, and third party environments. Responsibilities include supporting VPC networking, routing, security groups, network ACLs, firewalls, WAF, DNS, private connectivity, VPNs, and ingress/egress controls.
The role will also assist with infrastructure automation using Terraform and other infrastructure as code tools, along with Git and CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will help monitor cloud network activity, review logs, identify configuration issues, support security investigations, and remediate potential network exposures.
Working alongside experienced cloud, network, DevOps, and cybersecurity professionals, this individual will help maintain secure and reliable cloud environments while developing practical experience with cloud security technologies and controls used within a highly regulated financial services environment.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, network engineering, cybersecurity, or a related technical role.
- Hands on exposure to AWS, particularly VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, network ACLs, load balancers, and related networking services.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts such as least privilege access, private connectivity, ingress/egress controls, and workload isolation.
- Experience or working knowledge of Terraform or another infrastructure as code tool.
- Basic scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts and an understanding of how infrastructure changes are deployed through development pipelines.
- Ability to review logs and troubleshoot basic cloud networking or connectivity issues.
- Exposure to firewalls, WAF, IDS/IPS, SIEM, cloud monitoring, or other network/security tools.
- Basic understanding of AWS IAM, encryption, logging, monitoring, and cloud security controls.
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, or similar industry standards is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cloud, network, DevOps, application, and cybersecurity teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
