Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process prescriptions through insurance with attention to detail, ensuring all documentation is present and accurate, and that all federal and state regulations are met.
  • Navigate through complex prescription insurance billing, prior authorization requirements, and therapeutic alternatives.
  • Investigate patient insurance benefits and other supplemental payor information in order to maximize prescription medication funding and minimize out-of-pocket patient expenses.
  • Support the approval process as needed for patients’ primary insurance, worker’s compensation or Prescription Assistance Programs to determine the best solution for each prescription.
  • Review and triage clinical information gathered during calls to the prescriber, pharmacist or patient that may affect a patient’s disease state, medication regimen, or method of funding.
  • Anticipate prescriber and customer needs and resolve issues quickly by finding forward thinking solutions and determining what can be done to fulfill a request.
  • Deliver professional and friendly communications and act as a knowledgeable resource to prescriber offices to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Maintain knowledge of the products, services and unique regulations affecting compounding and specialty pharmacy’s unique prescription fulfillment process.

Salary Range: $18 - $21/hour


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Louisiana.
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances.
