Position Description:

  • As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure for innovative projects.
  • Leverage your expertise in cloud platforms and emerging technologies to drive digital transformation and deliver impactful solutions.
  • This position is located in our Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
  • Due to the nature of this government contract, US Citizenship is required.


Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Collaborate with architects and developers to create scalable and resilient cloud environments that meet project requirements and align with industry best practices.
  • Deploy and manage cloud-based services on prominent platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Configure and optimize services to ensure optimal performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness for diverse project needs.
  • Drive the migration of on-premises workloads to the cloud, leveraging your expertise to facilitate seamless transitions while maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Implement migration strategies that minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

  • Monitor and manage cloud resources to optimize cost-efficiency and scalability.
  • Implement resource scaling strategies based on workload demands, performance metrics, and budget constraints to ensure efficient resource utilization.5. Implement and maintain cloud security measures to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Establish robust cloud security measures to protect sensitive data and infrastructure.
  • Implement access controls, encryption protocols, and security best practices to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash to streamline cloud and on-premise tasks.
  • Automate routine operations, deployments, and maintenance activities to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure seamless integration


Qualifications:

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and at least 3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering
  • Expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proficient in virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere.
  • Strong understanding of high-level networking concepts such as IP routing and firewalls.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies for efficient cloud operations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security principles.


Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field with a focus on emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in advanced modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and network simulators tailored to emerging technologies.
  • Experience in developing mathematical models for cutting-edge wireless communication systems, IoT devices, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills and a research-oriented mindset to interpret simulation results and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Knowledge of emerging wireless communication protocols, network architectures, and performance metrics.
