What does this job entail?

  • Under the guidance of a Professional Engineer, the Civil Engineer Intern (E.I.) will be aiding in the design and involved in creating plans and construction documents for various civil engineering projects relating to roadways, drainage systems, and water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • The E.I. will provide daily support to our team of Professional Engineers, performing both technical and administrative tasks, and contributing to overall project management.
  • The role will involve routine engineering work with a focus on developing professional skills and providing detailed, proactive project support. 
  • The E.I. will be a champion and leader of our company’s core values while maintaining internal and external customer engagement and satisfaction.


Some responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and modifying reports, specifications, plans, schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs.
  • Using engineering and design software for design and document preparation.
  • Collecting data and performing standard computations and analysis.
  • Preparing drawings, visual aids, technical reports, and cost estimates.
  • Observing construction activities to understand methods and translate engineering drawings into constructed products.
  • Learning and applying fundamental engineering processes to operating systems.
  • Tracking tasks and client deliverable documents.
  • Facilitating client communications and managing project documents (creating, proofreading, editing, and formatting).
  • Calculating project costs and feasibility based on data analysis.


Qualifications:

Am I qualified for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited engineering curriculum with major concentration in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Knowledge of roadway engineering design concepts.
  • General understanding of hydraulics & hydrology.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
  • Interest in learning project and client management skills, including attending client meetings, networking, and other professional development activities.
  • Current Engineer Intern certification – preferred
