Hearts of Hope is seeking a Survivor Advocate to provide support services to adult victims/survivors of sexual violence, acting as a liaison throughout the medical, legal, and criminal justice systems involved in evidence collection, investigation, and prosecution of sexual assault. The Survivor Advocate must have knowledge of crime victimology and interpersonal violence, be able to work directly with clients in crisis situations and in the aftermath of sexual violence, conduct intakes, refer clients for appropriate community services, assist clients seeking victims’ compensation benefits, offer case management services, and provide court accompaniment. The Survivor Advocate participates in the 24-hour staff on-call rotation, answering the crisis line and providing emergency room accompaniment when necessary. In addition to direct client services, the Survivor Advocate participates in the agency’s public education and awareness campaigns seeking to advance victims’ rights and prevention of sexual assault and abuse.


The Survivor Advocate is a professional position. Qualified candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills; advanced knowledge of the effects of interpersonal violence and sexual assault; a record of successfully exercising discretion and good judgment; ability to maintain client confidentiality and clear professional boundaries. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a human services field, Masters Degree preferred. Work experience in victim advocacy or closely related practice and direct practice with crime victim or survivors of interpersonal violence is preferred.
