L3Harris is seeking Test & Integration Engineer as it continues to develop and establish a foothold in the rapidly growing market space for Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASV).
The role will be based onsite at our location in Broussard, LA.
Key Responsibilities:
Participating in the installation/activation phases (e.g., startup and checkout of GFE and autonomy systems and equipment, and related HM&E support equipment)
Assisting in the testing and support of areas under the purview of the L3Harris Program Manager and the customer including manned and unmanned vignette testing evolutions
Coordinating activities with and acting as the on-site liaison for L3Harris ASV with civilian, government, and military program personnel working aboard USVs; potentially required to act in accordance with program management and engineering leads as the sole on-site representative
Working with on-site and remote Engineering leadership and SMEs to identify, analyze and prioritize activation, test, and integration issues, and then work with relevant teams to ensure timely development, test, and implementation of solutions
Troubleshooting and diagnosis of issues, both in person and via phone or email, for vessel systems, using methodical processes of elimination, isolation, and fault-finding. Analyzing equipment failures to determine cause and corrective action based on your analysis
Reaching back to vendors, engineering, and fleet operators for support and solutions
Documenting issues and changes for reliability and maintainability
Recording test observations and objectives and lessons learned and providing SITREPs to program management.
Participating in the development and presentation of periodic reports and status briefings
Providing system life cycle support installing hardware and software equipment upgrades to ensure the vessel system configurations are current and support test requirements
Assessing installation requirements (e.g., provides power, cooling, space, weight, allocations for hardware installations) as needed
Working with on-site and remote engineers to design interfaces for new equipment to existing systems or for reconfiguring systems to provide greater flexibility and capacity
Responsible for keeping organized and detailed records, logs, issues, and checklists for a variety of operationally essential tasks
Working closely alongside members of the ASV Operations team and the wider ASV team to ensure the continued efficient operation and refinement of our products by working with our clients to capture feedback and change requests etc.
Coordinating with the Production team to schedule installation events and ensure all necessary tools, equipment, and personnel are available for timely install
Coordinating, preparing for, and carrying out USV operations, customer demos, and trade shows
Supporting business development activities by supporting proposal development and serving as a subject matter expert on customer calls and meetings
Providing underway system support for at sea events as needed
Qualifications:
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Experience in lieu of education/degree is suitable as well.
Ability to analyze equipment failures to determine cause and perform corrective actions
Ability to read and comprehend specifications for electrical and optical cable, connectors and backshells, and system design, integration and integrity testing
Ability to read and comprehend technical HM&E engineering drawings
Understand and utilize effective troubleshooting techniques to resolve software, electrical, and/or mechanical system issues
Excellent electrical knowledge including the ability to understand electrical diagrams, understanding of various components such as relays, actuators, and the ability to investigate and trace electrical issues.
Familiarity with ship hardware and machinery systems such as generators, propulsors, power distribution, fuel systems, etc.
The ability to quickly locate the cause of a problem from a set of symptoms and the ability to either resolve locally or liaise effectively with shore-based support teams to ensure such problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently
To have strong organizational abilities, oral & written communications, and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex system-of-systems technical problems that require ingenuity, innovation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders
Ability to obtain Secret clearance
Willingness and availability to travel up to 25% of the time and working offshore on a vessel or at customer facilities off-site as needed

Advanced MS Office skills
Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
Preferred Additional Skills/Experience:
Previous experience working on and operating maritime vessels
Prior experience as an installation engineer in ship repair facilities or equivalent industrial environments
Previous experience in Integration and test and Post Delivery Technical and Management experience in a field environment with a concentration in military
Prior experience working on board a naval vessel under construction and during trial periods at sea, or, at US Navy land-based test sites or our company labs supporting such programs
Prior experience with autonomous systems/ autonomous vessel development and/or operation
Shipboard experience on a U.S. Navy or commercial ship
Basic boat handling skills
Experience interfacing with Government and/or Military personnel
Experience in the production and/or commissioning of maritime systems
Experience operating and performing maintenance on marine vessel systems (Electronics, engines, generators, fuel systems, etc.)
Experience in the set up and fault finding of complex marine electrical systems and sensors including experience with NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 protocols.
Experience in boat/ship production and/or working with production equipment (welding machines, router table, press break, drill press, etc.)
Experience in scheduling and properly allocating resources to support program schedules
Experience with electronic troubleshooting tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
Active Secret security clearance verifiable in JPAS or the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance within 90 days.
Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports
Experience Solidworks, Autocad, or other comparable 2D and/or 3D CAD programs
Experience working within DoD and/or marine standards & processes.
Experience working with Solidworks PDM or comparable Product Data Management (PDM) software
