Purpose of Position

  • The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for all aspects of cost accounting, material cost analysis, and various financial reporting.
  • This individual will also be responsible for preparing the company’s annual budget and ad hoc projects as necessary.


Essential Functions of the Areas of Responsibility

  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor. 
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost. 
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing applied costs to actual production costs. 
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs 
  • Prepare quotations for cost of large projects and analysis post close out. 
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. 
  • Maintain cost accounting system and bill of materials
  • Prepare periodic cost reconciliation reports tracking data such as changing labor and supply costs.
  • Assist with month end close of the general ledger 
  • Assist with physical inventories and cycle count program. 
  • Reconcile finished goods inventories. 
  • Compile project costs and analyze variances. 
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities on an as needed basis. 
  • Lead the annual budget process and compile supporting schedules and analysis based on results.
  • Collect and analyze financial information related to the organization’s expenses, seeking ways to improve accuracy of budgets and forecasts, and to decrease the cost of assigned departments and projects
  • Assist accounting team with adhoc reporting and dashboards as needed.


Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost accounting/manufacturing
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software as well as large scale ERP systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
