The Kathleen Blanco Public Policy Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is hiring in anticipation of a significant expansion of operations in the coming months. The Blanco Center is an independent, interdisciplinary research center and archive engaged in research across a range of topics in public policy. Our core policy areas of focus include education, poverty and economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, health and healthcare, the coast and environment, and governmental ethics.
The Research Associate 4 is responsible for project management and technical support of multiple research projects. It will be necessary for the candidate to develop a research plan including timelines and major tasks necessary to complete project deliverables, track progress and ensure timely completion of major milestones and final deliverables. To accomplish these goals, the Research Associate 4 will also be expected to interpret data, write reports, make constructive recommendations and identify places within the project where additional support from other Blanco Center staff is needed and request that support from the Director. The candidate will also be expected to explore opportunities for new research and may also be asked to represent the Blanco Center at meetings with external partners and research sponsors.
The position requires a master’s degree in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, or related field, exceptional written and oral communication skills, advanced analytical skills, and strong computer software skills (including by not limited to Microsoft Office). The candidate should have previous experience in at least one Blanco Center priority policy area. The candidate must demonstrate creativity in problem solving, must be self-motivated and able to work collaboratively in teams. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a high degree of competency in project management and creativity in problem solving. In addition, the candidate must have at least one year of related work experience.
Prior experience working with statistical software packages such as STATA, R, SAS, and/or SPSS as well as prior experience working in ArcGIS are preferred.
