The Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) is seeking applications for a full-time Manager of Business Attraction. This individual will report to the Director of Business Attraction and will work closely with the President/CEO. The Manager of Business Attraction will support the Director’s efforts to attract new business and industry to Lafayette Parish. The President/CEO and Director of Business Attraction will develop a marketing and outreach plan based on data and information collected by the Business Intelligence Department, and together, with the Manager of Business Attraction, will implement a robust effort to bring new businesses in select target industry sectors to Lafayette Parish. The Manager will support the execution of targeted marketing activities that drive “sales-oriented” interactions with prospective new businesses. These activities occur on an ongoing basis and require appropriate follow-up and extensive tracking utilizing CRM tools. This position requires a general knowledge of business and the specific tools necessary to navigate a successful recruitment effort.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing general market and industry information, as well as financing and tax incentive guidance related topotential projects
  • Assisting with site location analysis and development
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with lead generators, site selectors, industry executives, and localcommercial realtors and developers
  • Managing other special projects as directed by the Director of Business Attraction or the President/CEO

Salary Range: DOE


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Business Administration or recognized economic development certifications

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Experience in the field of economic development, or related field at an organization similar to LEDA


  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, demonstrated proficiency in sales, marketing and/or consultative selling process, presentation skills, team player, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, strong organizational skills, self-starter with strong initiative, ability to work irregular hours and travel occasionally both nationally and internationally, ability to network easily and develop and maintain relationships, proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with economic base, infrastructure and utility providers, and real estate contacts
