The Business Development Manager’s role is to support One Acadiana’s core Business Development activities with the overall goal of attracting and retaining business to secure new payroll, jobs, and capital investments in the region. These core activities include site development, business recruitment, and business retention and expansion. The Business Development Manager reports to the Vice President of Economic Development.


  • Promote business attraction in the Acadiana Region by attending and developing a strategy for recruitment trips
    • Identify recruitment trips based on the target industry strategy
    • Generate and track leads through phone/e-mail outreach in advance of recruitment trips
    • Continue lead development with strategic follow-up after recruitment trips
    • Work with the communications team to develop custom marketing strategies and materials
      prior to each recruitment trip
  •  Oversee Business Development marketing
    • Manage the Business Development team’s workflow with communications staff
    • Work to develop, refine and implement the external brand and marketing strategy for the
      Acadiana Region in partnership with the communications staff
    • Communicate local, state, and national economic development trends and marketing best
      practices to communications staff
  • Conduct research and collect and report on data as needed
    • Provide site selectors, prospects, economic development partners, and One Acadiana members
      and investors with data requests
    • Produce monthly economic vitals report for distribution
  • Gain a thorough understanding of Salesforce, manage changes to the Business Development
    platform, and communicate changes to team members
  • Develop strong ongoing relationships with partners (i.e. local and state economic development
    professional, utility providers, 1A leaders, and investors, etc.)
  • Meet with economic driver companies in the nine-parish region, capture resulting information,
    interpret data, and communicate trends
  • Provide companies information on programs available to support their growth such as workforce
    solutions, incentive programs, and state and federal business initiatives
  • Identify projects that could result in job and investment growth as well as companies at risk of
    closure or relocation outside of the region, communicate developments
  • Participate in relevant continuing professional education 


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who is driven toward excellence and high achievement
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and business software capability expected
  • Ability to multitask and work under time pressure
  • Experience in Salesforce is preferred
  • Effective time management, excellent communications, upbeat/dynamic and outgoing personal
    traits are sought 
  • Professional experience in business development or economic development preferred
