  • The loan officer assumes the responsibility of receiving, evaluating and processing all consumer, credit card and overdraft account loans.
  • They assemble and evaluate loan applications and approve those that meet initial lending criteria and are within approved lending limits.
  • Provides general credit union information while maintaining member satisfaction and retention. 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Represents the credit union in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Receives and processes loan and credit card applications in person, over the phone or through online banking.
  • Receives and processes membership applications for account opening.
  • Assist members with VISA reconciliations. 
  • Work/complete paid out loans including releasing titles on paid vehicles. 
  • Disburse checks for loans for dealerships. 
  • Process/submit registration for collateral loans with title for appropriate motor vehicle state. 
  • Receive and process ACH's for members. 
  • Receive and process lending reports. 
  • Maintain documents files/e-Sign 
  • Process and send out titles for closed vehicle loans. 
  • Presents and explains credit union services and products to members, while assisting them with their financial needs.
  • Understand credit union policies and procedures, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti- Money Laundering, OFAC etc.
  • Perform teller duties when required or requested.
  • Assist with branch opening and closing.

Language Ability: 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Math Ability: 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

Computer Skills: 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Spreadsheet. 


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Specialized Training: 

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in Lending
