The Executive Director of Risk Management and Insurance will set the strategic risk management vision and delivery strategy to the company using exceptional leadership skills, network of internal and external alliances and highly developed business skills. The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership, innovation, governance, and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company's operational and strategic risk. Certain of the risks include property, casualty, shipping, employee safety, cyber, environmental and aviation and health plan risks. The position will be responsible for the develop of enterprise risk management policies, tools and practices to analyze, report and manage risk. Ensures the organization's risk management strategies, policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable regulations, rating agency standards, and strategic imperatives of the organization. Possess an intimate knowledge of internal business processes and the organization's industry and the insurance industry and markets. The Executive Director will oversee and manage the personal risk management needs of the Company founder. Key traits for the individual in this position are: highly developed communication and emotional intelligence skills, team player, change agent, strategic and creative, excellent project management skills and the ability to drive performance in a fast paced and changing environment.

  • Assist with the operations of the Canada Customer Care office in Toronto
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on risk management and insurance, and an accessible resource to senior leadership and department leaders
  • Identify risks and develop and implement strategies, policies and procedures to minimize such risks
  • Respond to coverage and exposure questions from leaders across the Company
  • Assess insurance programs and place appropriate classes of cover
  • Manage and grow relationships with third party service providers including brokers, underwriters, and other third-party service providers as appropriate
  • Communicate to insurance carriers and brokers the Company’s strategies, operations, risks and the policies and procedures in place to mitigate risks
  • Coordinate submission of Company information to insurance brokers and carriers
  • Continuous understanding of the insurance markets, including pricing
  • Communicate in a clear, concise and timely manner to senior leadership and all stakeholders with the ability to influence
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to effectively articulate such
  • Provide contract support by reviewing, advising and negotiating on insurance contract clauses, insurance premiums and commissions
  • Partner with in-house legal counsel as necessary to manage claims against the Company, including participation in mediation
  • Supervise insurance brokers' management and administration of program(s)
  • Have working knowledge of personal programs and coverages


Qualifications:

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in companies with revenue of $750 million plus and employees of 1,250 plus
  • Exceptional knowledge of risk management principles and practices
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and effectively prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality of information when required
  • Executive level verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, determined, and able to work under own initiative
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Collaborative style with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally in fulfilling responsibilities


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or other related field
  • Professional Risk Management accreditations highly desirable
