POSITION PURPOSE: The Executive Director’s (Exec. Dir.) primary purpose is to carry out and guard Bridge Ministry of Acadiana’s (BMA) Christian Identity, mission, vision, strategic plans & policies as established by the Board of Directors of BMA. The Exec. Dir. is responsible to set direction & oversee the overall operation of BMA. The Executive Director will be the face of the organization, responsible for giving the proper strategic path towards achieving BMA’s vision. The Exec. Dir. should be an influential manager with ability to lead and motivate. The Exec. Dir. should have great work ethic, communication skills and take a holistic approach in managing the organization’s operations. The goal is to manage and lead the organization along the missional pathway towards its vision.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partners with the Chairman of Board to ensure BMA’s Christian identity, vision, mission, directives, policies, & resolutions are carried out & protected.
  • Advises & informs Board members, & ensures that BMA’s Volunteers, Staff & Board have sufficient & up-to-date information and support.
  • Looks to the future anticipating challenges & opportunities.
  • Develops relationships in the Community & in BMA’s neighborhood that build Social Capital & Expands BMA’s reach into new neighborhoods, schools & develops new programs.
  • Ensures legal compliance (including all required filings) & sound risk management practices.
  • Formulates all policy and planning recommendations in working with partnering organizations.
  • Builds a BMA type hub that relationally mobilizes churches, businesses & government partnerships that relationally resource the under-resourced for the mutual benefit of all. Raising financial support, volunteers, & prayers while offering a neighborhood place for people to meet their neighbors and become friends.
  • Serves as an intentional connector (‘bridge’) between under-resourced neighborhoods & larger resourced community. Building mutually beneficial relationships with neighborhood, civic organizations, churches, university (ULL), businesses, schools, teachers, & the larger Lafayette community (i.e., Building Social Capital)
  • Develop & Maintain Community Relationships (via personal contact, bible studies, Social Media Marketing, “NEON” Client Relationship Management (CRM) Software system, regular inspirational Face Book posts, Drip Marketing, E-Blasts, Mass Mailouts, Newsletters, etc.).
  • Oversees fundraising teams, includes identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, writing grants, and establishing fund raising strategies.
  • Recommend yearly budget to the Board, and prudently manages organizations resources, hire, train, and fire staff, & raise up volunteers within those budget guidelines.
  • Champions the organization by teaching & advocating its Christian Community Development vision & mission to internal and external stakeholders. Uses regular classes and speaking opportunities to inform people of the challenges that adults & children face in generational poverty while offering real solutions through faith, hope & love.
  • The Executive Director & the Board will establish 1-year & 5-year SMART goals for BMA: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Oriented.
  • Participates in the selection, development, and evaluation of the board.
  • Must learn to live on God’s high road in the tension between our left or right secular worlds (socially, economically, politically, etc.) …. And encourage others to follow us as we follow Jesus.
  • Full Time. 40-hour work week, plus weekend speaking engagements, churches, neighborhood and community gatherings
  • Hold BMA employees accountable.

  • Can thrive in a team that practices excellence, humility, hope, diversity and unity.

Salary Range: DOE


Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or significant progressive experience
  • At least five years of organizational leadership experience
  • Must possess strong work ethic, leadership & teaching skills, personal skills, speaking abilities, & be financially and computer literate.
  • Ability & willingness to develop & maintain relational networks and friendships in under-resourced neighborhood & larger community.
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
  • Maintain the highest Christ-like moral standards in personal and professional life.
  • Faithfully embraces BMA’s high value for human dignity, statement of faith, vision and mission.
  • Must pass a background check
