  • Determine design approaches and parameters
  • Perform system analysis to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers
  • Write scripts to control synthesis and build tools


Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science Engineering or related field
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge and/or experience with VHDL, MCM, HFSS, Network, Power, Analog, Antennas, Controls, ENE, RF, Photonics, Modem, EDA, DSP, MATLAB, Communication Systems, FPGA, Aerospace industry or Optical Engineering
  • Knowledge of Code V and/or Zemax software tools
  • Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of FRED, Matlab, Python
  • Knowledge of and/or understanding circuit analysis and operational concepts
  • Familiarity with various computing environments (LINUX/Windows)
  • Strong technical writing skills with an ability to translate engineering inputs into technical reports and documents
  • Proficient in drafting using AutoCAD or similar
  • Ability to fault find, test, and resolve electrical system issues
  • Knowledge and experience of Ethernet networking, serial and CAN bus networks
  • Knowledge of marine engine wiring
  • Working knowledge of marine electrical standards
  • Knowledge of electric motors, linear actuators and motor controllers
  • Knowledge of good EMI/EMC management practices
  • Experience in PLC programming
  • Experience of micro controller development
  • Project management/technical lead experience
  • A keen interest in robotics and unmanned vehicles
  • Marine experience in vessel systems design and/or operations
  • Experience in defense, oil and gas or ocean science industries
  • Familiarity with standards such as ABS, ABYC, SOLAS, Coast Guard, Navy, MIL spec, and other marine standards
  • Some experience with Solidworks, Solidworks PDM Vault, or similarMechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to work across functions including wiring control panels, control boxes, outfitting boats, pulling and terminating cable, mechanical assembly
  • PCB design with Altium and other electrical design tools preferred
