Job Summary

  • Waitr Holdings is looking for an experienced Director of Accounting and Finance to join our team to oversee day-to-day operation of the accounting department and assist the Chief Accounting & Finance Officer in providing financial leadership.
  • Primary responsibilities include overseeing all Finance & General Ledger Accounting functions of the company, including the financial close process, internal and external reporting, audit preparations, and continual development of policies and procedures.
  • Support operations by providing and maintaining timely financial reports, researching and responding to inquiries, and being a business partner to the organization.
  • Our platforms (Waitr, Bite Squad and Delivery Dudes) connect restaurants to hungry diners. Waitr Holdings is a publicly traded company.

Job Functions

  • Oversee the accounting, compliance with regulations and reporting requirements of the organization
  • Assist with annual budget process and overall finance functions
  • Work closely with the Accounting Managers to ensure smooth daily operations within the accounting department  
  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of the financial statements and footnotes
  • Maintain consistent effort to continually improve on processes and procedures, including documentation of internal controls
  • Work directly with CAO/CFO to develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
  • Plan, organize, and lead monthly/quarterly/year-end close processesConduct a highly detailed review of month-end workpapers
  • Coordinate with both the internal and external audit functions, tax consultants, regulatory bodies, and various other third-party providers.
  • Provide guidance and interpretation of technical accounting literature
  • Lead Accounting and Finance team: 
  • Create appropriate development plans which develop team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities
  • Ensures team members are cross-trained to support successful daily operations.
  • Communicate financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behavior.
  • Provide direction and assistance to other departments regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures, and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.

Direction Exercised

  • Directly supervises exempt and/or non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable State and Federal Laws.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the development and engagement of team members.
  • For multi-functional leaders, discretion on operational direction is required, including the ability to lead a variety of different business units, guide both direct and indirect reports, and work autonomously within the scope of the role.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA highly preferred. 
  • MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience, including previous management responsibilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Familiarity with technical SEC reporting requirements
  • Public company experience is a must
  • Strong experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to prepare and present complex data in a simple, understandable manner
  • Ability and flexibility to work under pressure and concurrently on multiple projects and deal with ambiguity
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills with comfort in being self-directed and leading team initiatives

Physical Demands

  • Sitting at a desk for long periods throughout the day
  • Use of computer, monitor, and keyboard for 8+ hours per workday to complete work tasks
  • Conduct and participate in virtual meetings, and successfully communicate verbally and in writing with others

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week.  More hours will be required during busy times to meet required deadlines and workloads. 
  • Travel is not required.
