On behalf of a client in the ­­­­construction industry, we are seeking a dynamic accounting and finance leader to spearhead and execute the long-term financial objectives and goals of the company. Reporting to the company chief executive officer, the Director of Accounting & Finance will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial related activities for the company while supporting strategic planning efforts. The ideal candidate has a background in accounting, auditing, and budgeting and demonstrated experience developing, analyzing, and presenting financial reports and statements. This individual has experience in leadership/managerial roles and is action-oriented, leveraging prior experience to take a hands-on approach in executing tasks in varying levels of responsibility. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead and execute all efforts related to accounting (including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash apps, etc.), financial reporting, analysis, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
  • Collaborate with the chief operating officer and project managers to develop accurate and realistic project forecasts
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in the development of operating budgets based on current project pipeline and company projections
  • Oversee payroll administration process and act as back-up
  • Serve as head of company’s treasury management program
  • Ability to forecast long-term and short-term cash requirements needed to carry out current and future organization growth
  • Partner with the chief operating officer to develop and implement long-term financial goals and account for major capital investments
  • Responsible for various human resources tasks related to onboarding, benefits administration, etc.
  • Develop financial performance reports and present to leadership team and board of directors
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure of the company
  • Supervise staff performance by measuring performance against work projections and costs; approve necessary projection revisions
  • Oversee annual external audit
  • Oversee company insurance program and ensure the organization holds adequate liability and property insurance coverage
  • Ensure all tax returns and financial reports are accurate and filed in a timely manner
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining business and contractor license registration and related compliance in various states
  • Collaborate with leadership and board on annual meeting needs and deliverables


  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field required; master’s or graduate degree preferred
  • Eight to ten years of professional experience, with demonstrated experience in managerial/supervisory roles
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required
  • Excellent financial, analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with percentage of completion accounting method required
  • Exceptional communication skills, especially related to explaining complex financial issues in understandable terms
  • Possesses a long-term growth mindset with a desire to build and grow the organization’s reach
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus
