Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and External Relations, the Development and Annual Giving Manager is responsible for identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective donors in expanding their annual financial support of the work of South Louisiana Community College (SLCC). The Manager will develop and oversee the implementation of creatively executed programs aimed at increasing annual giving from all constituent groups, with special emphasis on amplifying unrestricted giving (Annual Fund). The position will also be responsible for managing a personal portfolio of major gift donors and prospects under $25,000.
As a supervisor, the Development and Annual Giving Manager serves as an operational resource to direct reports to ensure consistent and effective implementation of donor development plans. The Manager will demonstrate curiosity, creativity, vision, flexibility, and the drive to exceed annual goals for donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades.
FUNDRAISING
- Under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and External Relations, prioritizes and manages activities for annual fundraising opportunities, including development of funding proposals, fundraising visits, activities, and events
- Oversees all daily operational facets of Annual Giving, analyzing giving and trend data, performance statistics, engagement scores, and other predictive indices
- Manages and stewards a personal portfolio of 50-75 major gift donors/prospects to solicit gifts up to $25,000
- Owns yearly fundraising goals tied to Annual Giving programs as well as within personal portfolio, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue
- Spends at least 60% of time/effort in the field with a monthly expectation of 10-15 visits per month focusing on donor discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Develops donor management plans for entire portfolio, resulting in strategic, knowledgeable and complex asks
- Identifies and qualifies new prospects for corporate, foundation, and individual gifts to expand and refine SLCC’s prospect base
- Works collaboratively with Board members and other leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate annual and major donors
- Executes ongoing strategies for existing donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions as well as recapture from previous donors
- Works closely with the Communications and Marketing team to develop and distribute donor communications that are consistent and meaningful
- Represents SLCC externally in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and External Relations and other College and academic leaders
MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP
- Hires, trains, and supervises assigned development staff
- Sets targets for direct reports for annual scholarship donors, including cultivation, stewardship and renewal
- Manages team’s execution of the College’s faculty and staff giving campaign
- Provides documented evidence of individualized professional growth and development for development staff
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as works continually to enhance the diversity of the college and department
- Develops and manages annual budget for department and ensures control and approval of expenditures and reporting as required
- Serves on college committees, tasks forces, and cross-functional work teams as appropriate, and may represent the college on external teams
- Works closely with other Institutional Advancement staff and volunteer leadership to build and maintain momentum and focus for all fundraising efforts
OTHER
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and External Relations
- Predictable and reliable attendance is required in order to provide consistency and continuity of business and educational services
Salary Range: $39,765.00 - $61,512.00
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in nonprofit or higher education fundraising
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing annual campaigns and other broad-based fundraising
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
