Purpose of Position
- The Clinical Application Specialist will be responsible for imparting confidence to new accounts that are not as clinically experienced in wound care procedures with skin substitutes and other products developed.
- This position will be an in-house resident wound care expert reporting into Marketing via the Director of Product Management.
- The Clinical Application Specialist will be pivotal in both external and internal education and will be first line of contact for all things clinically related to the business.
Essential Functions of the Areas of Responsibility
Perform the following in accordance with AATB, FDA, and Tides Medical stated policies and procedures while upholding Tides Medical’s mission and corporate values.
- Provide customer training and support for the application of wound care treatments at new customer accounts.
- Provide continuing clinical and product support to the customer base as required.
- Provide general clinical and product application support to the customer service, sales, and marketing teams.
- Professionally represent the company and demonstrate the features, benefits, and clinical applications of products at trade shows.
- Develop, recommend, and implement product demonstration strategies.
- Collect clinical images appropriate for use in sales promotional materials.
- Provide support in the clinical evaluations of new products or new product technologies.
- Keep current on latest practices, uses and innovations in the wound care field.
- Comply with all applicable HIPPA, FDA and applicable ISO 13485 standard requirements regulations and standards.
General Responsibilities
- The Clinical Application Specialist will actively engage customers and new customers to disseminate best practices in wound care, while promoting our product and acting as a consultant to our customers.
- In addition, the specialist will work along side product management, customer service and sales by providing support in the development, education and closing of sales of all Tides Medical existing and future products.
- They will be an integral part of the retention strategy of customers as well as key input in the development of new technologies.
Qualifications:
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a registered wound care nurse / nurse practitioner working within a clinical, university or academic setting. (Broader experience will be considered)
- Previous commercial experience is desirable not necessary.
- Expertise in the assessment and treatment of chronic wounds in a clinical setting.
- Excellent customer service awareness
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with Medicare payment systems and billing procedures.
- Ability to travel extensively 60-80%.
Expectations
- Be present at customer site in person for first application and follow up trainings as per account needs. (1-2 times a year)
- On call clinical support for customer service.
- Prepare and present quarterly webinars (or as needed) to promote best practices.
- Prepare and deliver lunch and learns seminars at different sites to promote best practices.
- Attend trade shows and present products to customers.
- Active participant in advisory board, road map discussions and meetings.
- Expertise in the assessment and treatment of chronic wounds in a clinical setting.

- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
