POSITION SUMMARY
- With effective marketing and follow-through with constituents, the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Development is responsible for achieving the goals of the Bishop’s Services Appeal, emergency or time-limited fund-raising efforts as well as in the solicitation of sponsorships for diocesan events as indicated by and with approval from the Director.
- Marketing responsibilities include all communications (printed and digital), planning, design, copy writing, and editing of any and all materials needed to reach the financial goals of each project.
- The Assistant Director is also responsible for implementing affinity group programs for the 1918 Society and for the Fellowship of Stewards in coordination with the Director to strengthen relationships with donors.
- The person in this position is called to provide a Christian, compassionate and professional personality in all aspects of day-to-day operations, with complete confidentiality.
- The Assistant Director must be a team player who will share and participate in the vision and goals of the Diocese as it relates to stewardship and development.
- This person in this position follows the established working hours of the Diocese of Lafayette Central Office and shall follow all diocesan policies, procedures, and regulations.
- This position reports directly to the Director of the Office of Stewardship and Development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use diverse communication channels and regular touchpoints to engage and cultivate positive relationships with donors
- Plan, coordinate, and implement the Bishop’s Services Appeal as well as #iGiveCatholic each year; provide necessary supports to clergy, staff and volunteers to effectively execute plans
- Implement affinity group plans for the 1918 Society members as well as the Fellowship of Stewards
- Develop and implement a recognition program for loyalty donors to the BSA
- Compose correspondence
- Coordinate any events or seminars hosted by the department
- Write and upload approved website content as it relates to essential duties and responsibilities
- Assist in securing sponsors for the Celebration of Light event, #iGiveCatholic, the Rose Dinner and any other event or project as requested by the Director.
- Assist the Director with wealth-screening of donor prospects as requested
- Maintain confidentiality of all donor information
- Maintain a thorough understanding and knowledge of the mission of the Diocese of Lafayette, and of how the Office of Stewardship and Development and all Diocesan philanthropic and fundraising initiatives align/aid with mission
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Assist with data input and maintenance of donor files
- Attend required meetings and participate as needed
- Attend conferences when requested
- Develop professional contacts that will assist in the promotion of the Mission of the Diocese
- Collaborate with the Communications Department, particularly the offices of Acadiana Catholic, social media and website
- Perform other duties and tasks, general or otherwise as needed, necessary and/or as directed
Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
- Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate orally, in writing and digitally
- Demonstrated ability to raise funds, preferably in a non-profit environment
- Demonstrated ability in planning and marketing
- Analytical and strategic, able to evaluate complex data and plan accordingly
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy and efficient time management
- Self-starter, highly motivated, strong work ethic, takes initiative, works effectively with limited administrative support; the ability to see all tasks and/or projects to completion
- Personally accountable, owns his/her results
- Timely and thorough in performing all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to report regularly and efficiently to the director of the Office of Stewardship and Development
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, religious, central office personnel, church parish personnel, parishioners, donors, constituents, and others
- Proficient in using Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and other software used to create designs and presentations, and to maintain donor records
- Maintains up-to-date personal certification for Diocesan Safe Environment program
- College degree required in Marketing, English, Journalism or a related field
- Minimum of two years of experience in fund-raising
- Donor management software experience a plus
- Previous administrative assistant or customer service experience

- Work is performed in an office setting.
- Occasional travel inside the Diocese that may require the use of personal vehicle; proof of proper automobile insurance necessary.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- May be called upon to work beyond the regular work schedule on weekends, evenings or holidays
