  • The LOFT (Louisiana Organization for Transplant) division of Tides Medical focuses on partnering with hospitals, clinicians, and expectant mothers to coordinate the donation of placental tissue following cesarean sections.
  •  Under the direction of the LOFT Regional Manager, the Acquisition Technicians facilitate local donations.
  •  These donations are then passed through our Quality, Processing, and Distribution teams to be further processed/released as products to aid Tides Medical in its vision:  to treat patients.


  • Perform the following daily duties in accordance with HIPAA, AATB, FDA, and Tides Medical stated policies and procedures while upholding Tides Medical’s mission and core values:  
  • Ensure the completion, accuracy, and basic eligibility of all documentation necessary for donation.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all records and information, which pertains to donors, families, employees, the organization, and any related areas.
    • Obtain necessary paperwork from expecting birth mothers telephonically or in-person while demonstrating Good Documentation Practice and appropriate customer service skills. (This can occur in various settings and circumstances)
    • Maintain understanding of basic medical terms pertaining to obstetrics, delivery, and RCDADs.
    • Must be able to quickly determine basic eligibility upon review of relevant medical records and any available documentation.
  • Aseptically collect and package donations in a controlled hospital setting.
    • Don sterile supplies and perform acquisitions using aseptic technique.
    • Clean and sanitize work area during acquisition.
    • Professionally and amiably communicate with various hospital personnel.
    • Ensure donated tissue is properly labeled and handled safely.
  • Deliver donated tissue to the designated processing facility.
    • Ensure all paperwork needed is adequately executed and accounted for. 
    • Take necessary steps to ensure that any paperwork not acquired will be achieved next day or as soon as practical.
    • Maintain communication between all parties involved to keep status updates and pending documents of each acquisition in real time. 



  • Demonstrate history of working cooperatively in a team environment.
  • A valid drivers’ license with an insurable [clean] driving record.
  • Capability to pass general Drug Screen(s) and Criminal Background Check(s).
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.  
  • Availability to work 5 days/ 40 hours each week.
  • High School diploma required, associate degree or higher preferred.

Preferred experience in one of the following areas:

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience in a regulated setting (hospital, healthcare facility, patient care area, emergency medical services, surgical/procedural environment, Nursing/medical field training/education, etc.).
  • Experience in a biological science field. 
  • Experience with handling and manipulation of soft tissues, dissection and/or taxidermy.
  • Other applicable experience may be considered.

Other Requirements:

  • Varying hours of sitting, walking, standing, using a computer, etc.
  • Ability to lift a Supply Tote (weighing approximately 40 lbs.) to load in/out of a vehicle.
  • Ability to push/pull a Supply Tote (weighing approximately 40 lbs.) on a collapsible rolling cart between varied locations. 
  • Ability to lift/carry packed acquisition cooler (which can weigh between 20 – 40 lbs.) short distances (approximately 20 ft).
  • Driving between various locations. 
  • Speaking on the telephone.
