LEDA Virtual Job Fair

In addition to posting your vacancies on LEDA's website, positions are also distributed to a network of workforce centers and educational institutions as appropriate.

Position: Adjunct Flight Instructor

Faculty are responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their intellectual and academic potential and will execute an instructional flight program for VFR and IFR courses which results in students achieving academic success in accordance with Federal Aviation (FAA) Regulations and South Louisiana Community College’s commitment to excellence. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Complying with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements and regulations and International School of Aviation Excellence (ISAE) policies and safety practices.
Overseeing operation of the aircraft according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, limitations and restrictions.
Providing professional flight training in all courses in accordance with ISAE syllabi, Part 61 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and the applicable Practical Test Standard (PTS).
Strategically plan flight training lessons with considerations of real-time weather, flight time required and tasks to be completed in accordance with ISAE syllabi.
Equipping the student with the requisite skill to successfully complete the flight training syllabus and also prepares the student for the FAA practical tests.
Following a predetermined training schedule, notifying students of necessary changes in a timely manner.
Maintaining a record of student attendance and flight training conducted with each assigned student, to include an accurate log of flight hours, in accordance with ISAE syllabi.
Complying with rigorous record keeping procedures established by the FAA and maintains personal records of training given, required by the FARs. 
Completing all required paperwork and documentation for each assigned student in preparation for a knowledge or practical test. 
Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, colleagues and leadership on a regular basis. 
Student progress reporting.
Incorporating safety considerations into all aspects of training with focus on Preflight Preparation, Single Pilot, and Crew, Resource Management.
Participating in safety meetings and other related functions, e.g. Safety Stand Down days.
Communicating with maintenance staff by recording and reporting aircraft discrepancies that result in an un-airworthy condition and submit additional required safety reports, if requested.
Performing post maintenance test flights on ISAE aircraft as required.


Previous teaching and/or instructional experience preferred.
Associate’s Degree or Higher
Hold a current FAA Basic Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot Certificate
Hold a current FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Helicopter Rating
Hold a current FAA Flight Instructor Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Helicopter Rating
FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate
