Position: Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial operations. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises four staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting to support business operations, and the coordination of budget and forecast activities.

·         Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the internal financial reporting and general ledger structure.

·         Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.

·         Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

·         Ensures that key SOX control activities in finance are performed in a timely manner and the supporting documentation is ready when requested by third parties.

·         Coordinates the annual budgeting process.

·         Manages the implementation of the EPM for forecasting and profitability activities.

·         Responds to inquiries from the CFO, Controller, and other firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.

·         Collaborates with the other accounting and finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

·         Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

·         Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

·         Supervise the staff accountants to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.

·         Provide development opportunities for the finance staff to keep them engaged and growing professionally.

·         Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

·         Provide technical expertise to update, maintain and implement MSB specific accounting policies.

·         Provide training to new and existing staff as needed. 

·         Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

·         Support CFO and Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.

·         Maintain professional certifications and licenses.  


·         Considerable knowledge of modern office methods and procedures; of the maintenance of systematic financial records of the company.

·         Analytical ability sufficient to prepare periodic financial reports in support of MSB business operations. The reports may involve complex data and the use of general instructions and procedures outlining company policy.

·         Ability to use personal computer and common office suite software, such as spreadsheet and word processing applications.

·         3-5 years of professional experience. Financial services experience is desired but not required.

·         Supervisory experience.

·         College degree in finance or accounting

·         CPA designation highly desired

·         Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Strong math aptitude and proficiency.

·         Strong organizational skills.

·         Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

·         Strong knowledge of JH Silverlake, Cognos, Axiom

·         Must have a professional appearance and manner.
