LEDA Virtual Job Fair

In addition to posting your vacancies on LEDA's website, positions are also distributed to a network of workforce centers and educational institutions as appropriate.





Position: Services Navigator

The Services Navigator is responsible for answering the telephone and providing reception services for Msgr. Sigur Center and for assisting clients in identifying a safe housing arrangement that removes the immediate need for homeless crisis services including outreach, hygiene, emergency shelter or transitional housing. The position is also responsible for performing all ARCH Coordinated Entries and Acuity/Vulnerability Assessments for CCA’s Client Services programs. Provide information and referrals regarding community resources. All employees are expected to learn and exhibit the core values of Catholic Services of Acadiana as defined in the employee handbook and on the CCA website (www.catholiccharitiesacadiana.org/being-a-cca-employee).

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Provide Reception Services
• Answer the telephone
• Greet the public
• Provide information about services provided at Msgr. Sigur Service Center
• Determine eligibility for financial assistance
• Direct clients to outside resources
• Take messages as needed and deliver the messages
• Record phone and lobby inquires throughout the day
• Communicate with Emily House staff about vacant beds
• Keep work area including the lobby neat and organized
• Attend trainings and staff development as needed

Divert Households from Homeless Services
• Assess individuals and families who present for homeless services to determine the appropriateness of such services
• Provide mediation with family members, hosts, and landlords in order to maintain current housing situation
• Assist households in identifying natural supports that could provide alternative housing options
• Identify and refer households for financial assistance for travel expenses (bus tickets, gasoline) to relocate
• Verify viability of relocation by contacting the host directly
• Identify and refer households for receipt of diversion funds and recommend amount
• Coordinate with area shelters to provide referrals and transportation when households cannot be diverted from services
• Refer households to appropriate programs within CCA and to services provided by other organizations in the community
• Document all information on the Homeless Management Information System
*Any other duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
• A working knowledge of community resources and services
• Ability to work with a wide range of individuals, backgrounds and personality types
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Valid LA driver’s license and an insured motor vehicle in which to transport clients
