Position: PLANT MANAGER

Job Description:

Directs and coordinates activities of food processing plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Job Responsibilities:

Oversee all areas of production, production scheduling, warehouse and shipping. Manages up to five subordinate supervisor’s and upwards of 65 employees in the production and shipping departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises some non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties and Day-to-Day Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:
•Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
•Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
•Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
•Consults with CEO to get approval for modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
•Maintains employee attendance records for all supervisors.
•Performs evaluations for supervisors and employee’s.
•Delegates vacation schedules for all permanent plant employees.
•Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
•Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
•Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
•Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to CEO for action or assistance.
•Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
•Directs workers engaged in processing, packaging, storing, and shipping products.
•Directs and coordinates activities concerned with dismantling, moving, installing, or repairing of machines and equipment to not interfere with production scheduling.
•Approves plant payroll and payments for purchased materials or products related to production prior to submission to CEO.
•Estimates quantities of materials for processing required and monitors ordered materials, supplies, and equipment needed.
•Provides suppliers with transportation to expedite delivery of purchased products or supplies to plant
•Handles the initial purchasing for all plant supplies and equipment.
•Directs production in all Plants and Shipping & Receiving.

Minimum Training, Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a (4) four-year accredited college or university, preferably Food Science or Animal Science related science field or at least (8) eight years of related food safety or leadership experience.

•Standing for long periods of time.
•Ability to manage a fast paced operation that can run 24/7 and that includes a dedicated group of quality minded professionals.
•Exposure to chemical odors may be encountered. Hoods and personal protection equipment are available for use.
•Handling of hazardous chemicals including caustics, acids and flammable hydrocarbons.
•Gloves, aprons, glasses and other P.P.E. are available and required when handling certain chemical

Qualifications:
