Position: Innovation Engineer, Machine Learning

The Fugro R&D Feature Extraction team in Lafayette, Louisiana focuses on development of automated feature detection and mapping software for offshore survey utilizing cutting-edge development platforms. We are looking for a team-oriented individual who is passionate about machine learning, data science, and developing quality solutions.

Roles And Responsibilities

Candidate must be a self-motivated independent thinker, comfortable working in a group setting with a team of peers.

•Candidate will be responsible for recommending, testing, and evaluating machine learning algorithms for feature recognition and mapping.

•Candidate will share responsibility for development and validation of software to enhance Fugro’s proprietary autonomous and semi-autonomous survey systems. This includes coding, test automation, debugging, profiling, troubleshooting, and documentation.

•Candidate will assist with gathering, extracting, and managing data for use in training and validating algorithms.


· PhD or MS in Computer Science or other applicable field; OR proven track record with 2+ years experience in applied Deep Learning.

· Experience programming and evaluating Deep Learning algorithms.

· Must be proficient in Python and any .NET programming languages.

· Experience programming on Windows platform.

· Experience working in Agile team environment.

· Strong oral and written skills.

· Effective ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

· Capability of working in groups and independently; learning new technologies quickly; translating user needs into system requirements, and requirements into statements of work.

· While primarily an office based position, the responsibilities may require occasional travel to client locations for in-field trials and deployment of new systems.

Preferred Experience

· Object-oriented design, unit testing, and Git version control.

· Proficiency developing in Microsoft Visual Studio.

· Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance.

· Data mining using state-of-the-art methodologies. Selecting and integrating any Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities.
