In addition to posting your vacancies on LEDA's website, positions are also distributed to a network of workforce centers and educational institutions as appropriate.





Position: Manager on Duty

The Manager on Duty serves as the manager when the Director of Fitness is not available, absent or on leave and is responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures for the Fitness staff, Group Exercise Instructors, Pilates Instructors, Personal Trainers, Nursery Staff, City Fit Attendant, and Housekeeping [in the absence of both the Fitness Director and Facilities Manager] as established by the Fitness Center Director and organization. The Manager on Duty is responsible for tasks delegated by the Director of Fitness. Manager on Duty is responsible for communicating with the Director of Fitness about details in the workplace especially when the Director is out of the facility. It is the responsibility of the Manager on Duty to delegate tasks to employees under their command and when the Director is out in order to continue the operations of the workplace. Responsible for all daily operations in the fitness center, Fun Zone, and Kids’ Club in the absence of the Director.

Essential Duties:
• Establishes and follows through with departmental goals, objectives, and standards in order to maintain the quality, safety, and appropriateness of the fitness center’s functions and implements necessary improvements in services.

• Conducts and evaluates orientation procedures and educational programs within the department as requested by Director.

• Keeps close eye on production and efficiency of the Fitness Floor Staff, and assists with and ensures all of their daily duties and responsibilities are completed.

• Consults with Fitness Director on areas of further instruction and assumes additional responsibilities and/or performs assignments as required. Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Fitness Director and provides indirect oversight for the City Fit Attendant and Housekeeping when the Facilities Manager is not available or absent as well.

• Responds to emergency procedures related to any Member, Guest or employee incident or accident, directing the flow of care as deemed appropriate.

• Completes incident reports in a timely manner and follows reporting processes.
• Demonstrates competency in first aid procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in CPR procedures.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

WORK EXPERIENCE – At least two years combined experience working with youth, physical fitness and/or youth program management.
EDUCATION – High School diploma or equivalent required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE - Must possess and maintain a current CPR certificate and First Aid Certificate.

• Strong customer service orientation and skills
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must have a working knowledge of all fitness systems and proper techniques.
• Must have ability to enforce operating policies and procedures in an effective and courteous manner.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with coworkers, Members and Guests.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The working condition may be fast paced at times and requires working indoors. The noise level in the work environment will range from moderate to loud. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

Potential Shifts:
Monday-Friday 4:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday 7:00am-1:00pm; 1:00pm-7:00pm
Sunday 7:00am-12:00pm; 12:00pm-5:00pm
