Position: Mortgage Manager

Lafayette Schools Federal Credit Union, in Lafayette, LA, with over 20,000 members, has an opportunity for a skilled Mortgage Loan Manager. Candidates should have a proven record of successfully leading multiple mortgage lenders, and overseeing mortgage processes. Must have a minimum of 5 years of recent experience in all areas of the mortgage lending field: origination, underwriting, processing, and closing loans. The right candidate will promote and provide business development, relationship management of credit union members and vendors.

Basic Requirements:
• Possess active Mortgage Loan Originator license (NMLS) with no negative entries
• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous management experience
• Demonstrated ability to work responsibly with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
• A high level of interpersonal skills
• Financial analytical ability
• Honesty along with high ethical standards

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that mortgage loan policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations.
2. Set the Mortgage Loan Department’s strategic plans to align with the credit union’s business plan. Establish and ensure the implementation of target goals for the department.
3. Communicate credit union goals and direction with all mortgage loan employees to ensure clear understanding of rules, regulations, requirements, and expectations.
4. Create the budget for department and track on an ongoing basis for adherence.
5. Develop, implement, and monitor mortgage policies and procedures in accordance with credit union goals and strategies. Work with other departments to maintain consistency in credit union policies and procedures.
6. Oversee and monitor the mortgage loan and department functions to achieve their strategic goals. Direct the work of the mortgage loan department staff in all lending areas to include underwriting, loan processing, loan documentation, approval or denial of loans escrows and any related mortgage loan product..
7. Oversee the development and monitoring of performance standards. Provide mentoring, coaching, or training to support and develop staff.
8. Responsible for the origination and approval of all residential mortgage loans in accordance with established goals and standards for the department.
9. Responsible for the sale of residential mortgage loans on the secondary market.
10. Responsible for the foreclosure, maintenance, and sale of residential properties that are in default.
11. Oversee efforts required to develop and establish internal and external programs and relationships with mortgage brokers and others for loan production.
12. Research and evaluate feasibility of new mortgage lending products. Develop and implement plans for expansion of mortgage lending programs. Keep abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in mortgage lending and react to changes in a way that maintains competitiveness.
13. Work with V.P. of Lending, staff and members on complex issues to prevent loss to the credit union and support the membership.
14. Represent and promote the credit union at external functions.
15. Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff, maintaining effective employee relations.
