The Accountant position is a part-time employment position requiring 15-20 hours per week. The successful applicant will be expected to perform a variety of duties to support Lafayette Central Park (“LCP”), including: accounts payable, accounts receivable – in coordination with Community Foundation of Acadiana ("CFA") –and other accounting/administrative/clerical duties as directed by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors. As a successful Accountant, you must have a strong written and verbal communication, a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent computer skills. Essential job functions include: maintaining daily accounting records for LCP via QuickBooks Online, and manage all ancillary duties as needed to ensure accuracy of financial records. Proficiency in Excel required.
Accounts Payable: 1. Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation, prepares A/P summary reports for approval prior to payment and follows-up as needed 2. Prints and obtains appropriate signatures on all accounts payable checks 3. Distributes signed checks as required 4. Answers all vendor inquiries and maintains W9s for all vendors 5. Maintains accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and accounts payable files 6. Helps process and distribute 1099s to vendors
Accounts Receivable: 1. Prepares invoices as needed for products and services sold 2. Confirms accuracy of incoming payments and follows-up as needed 3. Processes pledge/sponsorship/invoice payments 4. Prepares and records deposits 5. Maintains sales for mobile POS
Other Duties: 6. Performs scanning and filing (electronic and physical) 7. Prepares bank reconciliations and monthly/event financial reports 8. Provides assistance as needed with journal entries, depreciation schedules, and month-end closing 9. Works with Executive Director and Board Treasurer to prepare annual budget 10. Process donor recognition letters as needed 11. Coordinate with third-party management for special events 12. Other duties as requested by Management/Directors 13. Maintains confidentiality of all organization information 14. Facilitates annual audit with internal Audit Committee, third-party auditors, & CFA
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions as determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Accounting with one year or more experience or an Associate degree with five years’ experience or more related experience. Solid understanding of GAAP is a must.
