The position of Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for material analysis and process control under the leadership of the Assay Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide long term research on new metallurgy projects
Evaluate technical feasibility of proposals from internal and external customers
Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine the causes of problems and develop practical solutions
Monitor production material performance and evaluate material deterioration
Design and direct the testing or control of metallurgical processing procedures.
Assist production in writing technically accurate and useful operating procedures
Conduct or oversee tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality
Review new product plans/designs and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, strength, weight, jewelry related properties, and cost.
Submit metallurgical papers in periodical papers or journals. Present these papers internally and externally.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent
4+ Years of Experience
Familiar with metallurgical lab equipment and processes
Microsoft Office Proficient
Good oral and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal skills to collaborate with other manufacturing departments
Team-oriented mentality
Creative problem solving
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or higher in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent
6+ Years of Experience
Jewelry or Precious Metal Industry Experience
Publications in Metallurgy or related field
Familiar with fire assay, XRF, SEM, and/or ICP method analysis
